24 INDIVIDUAL CARRIER OILS - A FEW NOTES: SWEET ALMOND OIL: It is suitable for all skin types, but is especially good for sensitive, mature, chapped, dry or irritated skin. There is also an essential oil of almond but this is made from bitter almonds and is never used in Aromatherapy. The main difference between bitter and sweet almond oil is that bitter almond oil contains prussic acid when crushed with water. Prussic acid is a compound of nitrogen, carbon and hydrogen obtained by distillation of cyanide of potassium. It is probably the most poisonous of know compounds. Do not use with anyone who has an allergy to nuts. Use This" Body Butter The rich and creamy texture of this unscented product (except for the quick whiff of cocoa butter) is really tops! It's a special blend of really simple ingredients: shea and cocoa butters, sweet almond oil and beeswax with Vitamin E added. It's the perfect balance of those goodies, creating a rich, thick butter that is a pleasure to spread across skin. If you have dry skin, you need to USE THIS!! Recipe: 1

pricked capsules of Vitamin E APRICOT KERNEL OIL: Apricot is very similar in effect to sweet almond oil. Apricot is normally more expensive, and it would be very easy for a supplier to offer almond oil and call it the effects are so similar. AVOCADO OIL: Is easily absorbed in the deep tissues and is therefore excellent for mature skin. Deep green in colour. The darker the better. Any clear or pale green avocado oil has been bleached and should not be used therapeutically. Refined oil is often pale yellow and should also be avoided. Avocado
& Jojoba Rich Moisture Butter: If
you have dry skin, this is a moisturizer to die for. It also contains shea
butter and carrot oil, which really helps to give it a creamy texture allowing
it glide smoothly and easily into the skin. Aromatic
oils of rose, lavender, and geranium combine to create a pleasant aroma as well
as lend skin conditioning properties. The lovely essential oil blend makes

drops of lavender e. oil CALENDULA OIL: The pot marigold is a member of the daisy family, a popular garden plant
indigenous to Southern Europe. If a person is allergic to ragweed, they
should not use any plants from this family as these could exacerbate the
condition. This is named after the
Virgin Mary. Marigold was thought
to be of special help to women. Belly
Balm Cream, Belly
Balm Cream smells divine - with just a tinge of the sweet, balsamic aroma of
frankincense. The short simple list of ingredients guarantee gentleness: shea
butter, calendula and essential oils of tangerine, and frankincense. Just a
little at a time keeps skin soft and supple.
Recipe:
Enough shea butter to keep mixture together 25
mls of calendula oil 4
drops of tangerine e. oil 1
drop of frankincense e. oil Boil
one pot of water in double boiler. Melt
shea butter in double boiler. When
slightly cooled, add rest of ingredients. Mix.
EVENING PRIMROSE OIL:
is
a rich source
of Gamma Linolenic Acid and is
helpful for the relief of eczema. psoriasis, dry skin, P.M.S. and tender
breasts. GLAs are important fatty
acids that are responsible for maintaining healthy skin.
They can offer critical help in reducing the effects of aging or aiding
in repairing weather or atmospheric damage.
Evening Primrose oil is believed to have a soothing effect on hormonal
fluctuations.
It is also helpful for face treatments, but as it is quite a sticky oil
it should be mixed with a lighter oil such as grapeseed, soya, peanut or
peachnut, for this purpose. Caution:
Evening Primrose oil should not be taken by epileptics as they could go
into an attack. GRAPESEED OIL: is non-greasy and suits all skin types. It is most readily available in a refined state, so it is best to mix it with almond oil to enrich the blend. The oil is heat and solvent extracted from the seeds of the fruit. Unfortunately it is sometimes unavailable in its natural state for unrefined grapeseed oil is considered to be unpalatable - certainly it has an objectionable odor. HAZELNUT OIL: Has unusual astringent qualities that are especially important for oily and combination skins. The colour of this oil is an amber-yellow and it has a pleasant nutty aroma. It has the properties of a deep penetration oil with the added advantage of nourishing the skin at the same time. It will stimulate the circulation and is a good oil to use in cases of acne.
