Apart from their natural beauty, crystals and gemstones have long been regarded for their healing properties. This use has been traced back to Ancient Egypt and into the Middle Ages where they were often used as means of protection. Many crystals are as old as our planet and record the history of the planet. Some crystals come here from off of the planet, such as moldavite or other celestial crystals. All crystals and gems vibrate on their own individual frequency, and the interaction between the energy field of the receiver and that of the crystal will allow a stabilizing and healing, invigorating, tranquilizing action to take place. The frequency they send out will determine which crystal a person should choose at a specific point in their life. A person chooses different crystals as their needs change. Different crystals and gems have different properties of healing.

There is no denying the attraction of crystals. They make superb paperweights, shelf decorations and conversation pieces, as well the more usual use in jewelry. People can put a crystal in a pocket to enhance concentration and give confidence. Many people remain unaware of the healing benefits of drinking gem water, and people can place crystals in homes, hospitals, and offices to absorb the negative vibrations caused by smoke, pollution, VDUs (visual display units) and other machinery. We can treat illness with specific stones by laying them on or around the body. Colored gems and crystals can also be laid on the meridian points of the body to give Color acupuncture.

To be considered a gem, a substance has to be beautiful, usually in terms of its colour and the way it reflects light.  It also has to be rare and durable.  Gems are either minerals, which has a regular internal structure and fixed chemical composition, or organics, which are produced by plants and animals. 

Crystals are the blossoms of the mineralogical portion of the Earth; the recognition of the beauty and loving energies of these forms can greatly enhance ones personal development.  They are the myriad fireworks of both creativity and individual universal energies.

 Gemstones radiate their life force with great power.  Many healers use crystals, gemstones and minerals to provide the vibrations a person needs to realign their energy systems.  Because of their special geometric form, crystals can tap into energy patterns that science is only just beginning to discover. 

In ancient times various precious and semi-precious stones were held in high esteem along with metals such as gold and silver.  The Christian Bible refers to crystals over 200 times.  Recall, the spiritually crystalline city whose walls were made of crystals, whose gates were of pearl, whose streets have no dust but gold dust, whose crystalline light falls upon the crystal sea and crystal river, and where souls that are clear as crystal are jewels forever in the crown of the redeemer.  Precious stones of crystalline formation were used in the foundation of New Jerusalem (Revelations).  They were also used in the breastplate of Aaron, the Hebrew high priest (Exodus); note that there are several translations regarding the stones used in the breastplate – hence, each stone, which has been previously defined as having been used in the breastplate (a total of 27 from the various translations) is referenced within the test describing the stone.  Crystalline structures have been found in the ruins of Babylonia and in the ancient tombs of Egyptian and Chinese rulers.  Certain esteemed gemstones and crystals were set in crowns, necklaces and belts to position them over key chakras. 

 Crystals exhibit the properties of both piezoelectricity (pronounced pie-ee-zo electricity) and pyroelectricity.  Piezoelectricy is the basis by which crystals can be programmed.  Since the mind emits electrical frequencies when in the process of thought, one’s thoughts are strong enough to “program” a crystal.  You can “charge” it with love, peace, joy, etc.  And to amplify the programming even more, if you add the feeling of these qualities, you can super-charge your crystal.  The vibrations you have to put into it can emit these feelings and qualities out around you.  Many of the early civilizations of the Earth, Native American healers, the Aborigines of Australia and the Jivaro of South American all regard quartz as the strongest crystal of all.  Compression produces the release of electrons.  Release of compression allows expansion (just for a minute) of the crystal and concurrent re-absorption of electrons; therefore producing mechanical energy (vibration).  A high energy source applied to a crystal may cause it to fracture (There are numerous examples of personal crystals fracturing during use).  Pyroelectricity is the quality of an electrified state, or polarity, which is produced by, and changes with, variation in temperature.  The pyroelectricity state activates expansion of the inherent energy when the crystal is heated; subsequently, when cooled, the energy contracts and remains within the structure. 

 The energies of the mineral kingdom are “universal energies”.  When one receives and is willing to receive this energy, and begins to exercise personal creativity through the Higher Will, one can contact and utilize the energies from which the whole universe is comprised.  This is the reason that crystals and other minerals are so very powerful and also why their powers must only be used through the highest consciousness of the individual.  The individual universal energies contained within each mineralogical structure is activated and directed by interaction and/or contact with same.  Proper ethics through the use of the mineral further stimulates the combination of ones personal energy with that of the mineral kingdom, increasing the utilization  of the light, the love, and “the good of all”.

 Crystals can be our friends.  As we become more in tune with the phenomenom of nature that is constantly vibrating in though and around us all the time, we are in a position to take charge of our lives.  Each crystalline structure/form has its own individual energy and its own “personality”.  Mineralogical structures which contain more than one mineral possess a melding of the energies of the minerals contained.  Each can be used in unique ways to assist one in understanding the multi-faceted nature of existence on the Earth plane.

 From your innermost essence to your physical body, you are made of and nourished by a continuous flow of life force.  This life force is a current of light which springs from the source of life itself.  When it flows freely, you experience joy, vitality, and vibrant health.

 Like us, the Earth is enlivened by life force.  As the Earth was forming, life energy was infused into the planet’s crystalline matrices.  Thus, the Earth’s gemstones came to embody and express the life force within the planet.  In the natural course of living, however, various blockages accumulate within this flow.  These blockages create blockages within you.  They obscure your radiance and give rise to disharmony, pain, and disease.  Although one must ultimately heal oneself, the healing process may be facilitated by the catalytic presence of many things.  To experience dis-ease is to experience a total or partial disconnection from wholeness, a loss of awareness of the innate and universal source of perfection.
